01. Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3

Hello Windows users,

Last Thursday, June 29, Microsoft released Beta 3 of Internet Explorer 7.

This beta version is available for Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, and Windows Server 2003 Itanium Edition.

System Requirements

Microsoft lists the following minimum system requirements your computer needs to run Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2:

Computer/Processor: Computer with a 233MHz processor or higher (Pentium processor recommended)
Memory: 64 MB of RAM minimum
Hard Disk space: Full install size: 12 MB
Display: Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution monitor with 256 colors

You can get more information on Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 Web site, where you also find the download links. You should take a moment to read the release notes, it lists a number of issues that have been encountered so far.

WARNING! All the usual warnings about "beta" software apply (including: Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 should not be used on production systems in mission-critical environments).

If you have a previous beta of Internet Explorer 7 installed, you'll have to uninstall this before you can install the new beta 3. To uninstall:

Click Add or Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel
Scroll down to Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 or Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview, select it, and then click Change/Remove

If not found, check Show updates at the top of the Add or Remove Programs Window, scroll down the list to find Windows XP - Software Updates, then find & select Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview or Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 and then click Change/Remove.

According to Dean Hachamovitch, General Manager, Microsoft Internet Explorer team, this release is the final beta for IE7. Next up will be the Release Candidates followed by general availability in the second half of the year.
