At the end of March, Microsoft confirmed the timeline for release and availability of its 2007 Microsoft Office system. According to Microsoft they are on track to complete work on the new Office in October of this year and are planning to make the product available to business customers through the volume licensing program in October 2006. Retail and OEM availability of the product are scheduled to coincide with the retail and OEM availability of the Windows Vista operating system in January 2007.

<title>03. Microsoft Offers Virtual Server 2005 R2 for Free</title>
<description>
At the start of April, Microsoft announced that Virtual Server 2005 R2 will be available as a free download. At the same time Microsoft also announced the availability of virtual machine add-ins for Linux and a technical product support model for Linux guest operating systems running on Virtual Server 2005 R2.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;
When Microsoft first acquired the Connectix software on which it based its Virtual PC and Virtual Server products, it removed official support to run Linux virtual machines. After user complaints over time grew, Microsoft finally decided to add Linux support back to the product.
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;
Microsoft has made the following virtual machine add-ins are available as a free download, supporting an initial set of nine Linux distributions:
&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;Enterprise distributions:&lt;/b&gt; Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 2.1 (update 6), RHEL 3 (update 6), RHEL 4 and Novell's SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;Standard distributions:&lt;/b&gt; Red Hat Linux 7.3 / 9.0, Novell's SuSE Linux 9.2 / 9.3 and 10.0&lt;/li&gt;
